Why this Code of Conduct?

Long version

The Chaos Computer Club “according to its statutes and its members’ intentions, is a galactic community for all life forms. Consequently, we want to offer all participants at our events a safe and enjoyable experience, regardless of age, gender and sexual identity, physical or psychological circumstances, ethnic, regional and/or religious affiliation or origin, external appearance or socio-economic status,” as stated in the Principles.

Even if this goal cannot be achieved in its entirety due to social power relations, we want to work towards it. Therefore, for Håck ma’s Castle we formulate more explicitly what is not desired here.

Unwanted behavior

We at Håck ma’s Castle understand harassment to include:

Harassment does not include:

This consent or agreement principle is based on the idea that only YES means YES. If you do not have a yes for an action, it is to be refrained from. Statements that are not an explicit yes are to be understood as a no.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to the Håck ma’s Castle event, but is not strictly limited to actions and statements made at the event.

We believe that people should strive to be free of discrimination and harassment at all times and in all places.

Children and underage teens are as important a part of our community as any other participants. They are welcome at Håck ma’s Castle and enjoy our special support and specific protection. This includes - not only, but also - the legal rules of Protection of Young Persons Act (“Kinder- und Jugendschutzes”).

Enforcement

People at the Håck ma’s Castle who are asked to refrain from harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

In the event of harassing behavior, the Håck ma’s Castle project leads reserve the right to take necessary action to make Håck ma’s Castle a pleasant environment for all participants. Possible measures range from word of warnings to permanent exclusion from the Håck ma’s Castle. If there is any ambiguity as to what a phrase means, it should be interpreted in the spirit of the overall document.

Reporting Violations

If you or anyone else feels unsafe or unwelcome, please report to one of the people from the Awareness Team:
